To learn the basics of drawing, you can buy and read the literature discussing drawof ing techniques, styles, tools, etc..

The proportion of base of a human face, are the following:

the distance between the Chin and eyes is equal to the distance between the eye and the Crown of the head (don't forget that you did not take into account a hair cut in this case);
the distance between the hair and eyebrows is equal to the distance between the eyebrows and the tip of the nose and at the same time is equal to the distance between the tip of the nose and the Chin;
the distance between the eyes is in fact the length of the eye itself;
the width of the nose is the distance between the eyes;
the length of the mouth is the distance between the pupils of the eye;
the length of the ears is equal to the distance between the eyebrows and the line of the mouth.
ING drawa half face (profile), the distance between the level of the eye and Chin is equal to the distance between the outer corner of the eye and the end of an ear.

The proportions of face above are classic for an adult and may slightly vary depending on the features of the face.

The most common errors in realistic portrait drawing are caused by the failure to respect the proportions above. These errors are usually as follows:

a skull truncated;
too large eyes;
too small nose;
too small mouth;
too thin neck;
too small ears.

However these deviations in classic portrait proportions can be made deliberately for ing draw withcaricatures and cartoons, and being able to make such "errors" in this case is also the art as it is not easy to accentuate and emphasize the necessary details of a picture to create a good cartoon which, at the same timeallows to model in the research.

When ing drawa portrait, must pay particular attention to the following details of the face of the model:

If the corners of the lip are tilted upwards or downwards;
lips is broader;
internal or external eye corners are higher;
shape of the face and cheeks;
cords and hair on the face that they must be n drawvery carefully and with as much detail as possible.

The most important in learning to draw is constant practice is a must to improve your technique for drawing. Practice much, you will quickly see that your portraits get more beautiful and similar to the model. Good luck in your learning to draw of realistic portraits!
