Drawing Tips and Techniques to Help You Learn How to Draw

Drawing is a fun hobby and in fact something that you can also make money with. If you want to learn drawing, there are also a few drawing tips and techniques that can help you learn fast and make better drawings. One good thing about this hobby is that, you don't need to have other expensive equipment, you can just have a pencil and a clean sheet of paper and you can learn how to draw right there.

If you are starting with a pencil, learn how to make vary the weight of your lines. You can make darker lines by pressing your pencil more or create lighter lines by lifting it up a bit. With varying weight of your lines you can emphasize major forms as well as finer lines in your drawing and make it more impressive.

One of the drawing tips and techniques that you may want to start with is to start drawing light lines. These very light lines will help guide you before starting to make a final drawing to avoid mistakes. Although it is normal to make mistakes in drawing and with light lines, you can easily correct them.

Having a light guide will also help you check the proportion of your drawing to make it fit the space that you have. One common mistakes of many is trying to draw right int the space and finding out afterwards that they don't have enough space for the hands o the feet, which can lead to having your subject too big for your space.

Avoid drawing in hard edges unless they are hard edges. Outlining them in hard lines can make your drawing flat, so start with finer lines and only use hard lines to what is suppose to be dark lines. Keep your pencils sharp so that you can easily make finer lines. You may need some blunt pencil for some lines and shadows too so you may also have some blunt ones ready as well.

Never rest your hands on your drawing or in the space that you still have to draw. Your hands can smudge your drawing and can damage it. No matter how clean are your hands, the moisture in it can make some parts of the paper you are working on hard for erasures later.

Learn the hatching technique in drawing. This is one technique that allows you to draw parallel lines to add the appearance of value o your drawings.

Of course, shading and highlighting are also important techniques in drawing and even with your pencil, you can actually learn these techniques to give depth and dimension to your drawings.

These are just a few drawing tips and techniques that you can start learning to make better drawings. If you are interested in drawing, you can also get a good resource where you can learn each step in detail and learn techniques step by step as well.

Learn How to Draw Objects in Perspective

If you want to learn how to draw objects in perspective you can take advantage of all of the programs that teach you exactly how to do this online. Some of the "learn how to draw perspective" programs are downloads and others take you right to a site that teaches you how to do it using step by step illustrations online.

Still nothing is more impressive than an artist that, without the aid of a computer software program about drawing perspective, can draw landscapes, buildings and people so that they look real.

Why is it so important to learn how to draw in perspective? Without any drawing perspective technique drawing just don't look realistic. They have a flattened look that lacks a point of view.

The main principle behind how to draw perspective is that objects up close are larger than those in the background. However drawing in perspective is not that easy as it is the angle of the chosen point of view that affects how realistic it looks.

The easiest way to draw is to use one point perspective. This means creating a vanishing point of perspective in your drawing which is a single point where all of the lines seem to converge to a distant point in a drawing.

Usually this vanishing point is located in the exact center of the drawing and just over the horizon line which is roughly where the paper would be if you folded it in half.

You can also get lessons in how to draw in two point perspective. This means that the object in the drawing has corners that are facing the viewer.

Expert artists and art teacher recommend that you use a very hard pencil like an HB to accomplish drawings done in one or two point perspective.

Some subjects are easier to draw than others, especially when it comes to one or two point perspective. To practice drawing this way try drawing a structure that appears to disappear into the horizon such as railroad tracks or a country road. The more angles you practice drawing the landscape or object from the better you will be at drawing perspective properly.

For people who wants to learn how to draw caricatures, I'll give some detail about the drawing techniques and materials used by the professional caricaturists first and later give step by step instructions on how to draw caricatures so that you can follow the steps and start drawing caricatures. You will need the following tools when drawing caricatures:

good quality pencil; which should not be too hard or too soft, preferably H or HB pencil.
good quality eraser; preferably waxed and soft to erase without trace.
good quality drawing paper; should be good enough to resist the stroke impact of the pencil, and not to peel off. This paper is preferred by the professional cartoonists for its resistance against the ink when working over the caricature drawing drafts.
good quality ink; black Chinese or Indian ink.
good quality cartoon pen

Step 1 - Cut the image paper in appropriate size. This size depends on your choice; it should be smaller than a poster and bigger than stamp. The size of A4 paper is generally accepted.

Step 2 - Start setting your composition into the image paper with a pencil. According to the joke, draw the most important elements of your composition; the places of figures, the background, the detailed objects, in a easily understood composition.

How to Draw a Car Step by Step - Learn How to Draw a Car Easily Here

I love drawing cars, it's a great feeling to see one of your drawings that looks real on a piece of paper. But my drawings looked terrible until I found a guide on how to draw a car step by step. If you've ever sat back and taken a look at one of your drawings and seen wobbly lines, bad proportions and something that doesn't deserve to be labeled a car, then I have some tips for you!

Now I won't give away all the secrets I learned in the how to draw a car step by step guide, but I'll tell you one of the processes I use now.

1. Draw Side View

Create a side view of the car you want to draw. Take your time with this because it will be the foundation of your drawing, if there's something wrong here, it will be hard to fix it up later. Use a light pencil, take your time and be patient. Even the professionals take time to create great drawings!

2. Project Perspective

Now pick a point on the page that you want to use as your perspective. Project lines from all the points of your side view, such as the corners and indents of the body. Make sure these lines are straight, use a ruler and a light pencil once again.

3. Create A 3D View

At this point you will choose a distance from the side view along your projected lines to start drawing the perspective view. It should look like a copy of your side view, that is shrunk down a bit. Once again take your time and make sure you get it right.

4. Connect The Dots!

Obviously now you will draw in the lines between the two side views of your car. Just like connect the dots! Now add all the little structure details that you can. Then we move on to the hard part...

5. Shading

This step is the most time consuming part in the how to draw a car step by step instructions, depending on how good you want it to look. You will need to use a variety of different pencils to achieve the contrast in tones needed to get a nice metallic look. To get a good grasp on this, I'd suggest you going out and looking how light plays on cars and imagining it in black and white. Apply this to your drawings and it will be easier to envisage how your car should look. Remember to leave the highlights of your car unshaded to use the natural white of the paper to create that shiny look.

Doing all these steps without someone to show exactly how it's done is hard, but going to art lessons can be expensive and time consuming. However, there is a guide that I mentioned that can speed this up for you.

If your interested in a complete guide that will give you video instructions on how to draw a car step by step and some extra tips click here: how to draw cars.

Have fun drawing those beasts!

Learn How To Draw Animals While Increasing Balance Between Both Hemispheres Of Your Brain

Most people who say that they can't draw are the ones who really never give it the old college try. What do I mean by that? I mean that if you are more of a left brained individual, which most of us westerners are, we insist that the grass must be cut or the dishes be done before we take the time to do something fun and creative. You are probably not aware that by giving in to those creative urges - such as taking the time to learn how to draw will actually make you more productive and enable you to become a better problem solver.

The left side of our body is "wired" to the right side of our brain, and vice versa. For whatever reason nature did this cross over, it applies even to our eyes, which process a majority of their sensory data on opposite sides of the brain.

In the late 1950's, early 1960's Roger Sperry's work on brain functions and capabilities, which in turn won him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1981, concluded that the brain is divided into two definite hemispheres. His research also proved that each part of the brain, the left and right hemispheres, have individual thought processes and specific capabilities.

Because our educational systems place a higher value on left-brain skills such as mathematics, logic and language than it does on drawing or using our imagination, only ten percent of these same children will rank highly creative by age 7. By the time we are adults, high creativity remains in only 2 percent of the population.

On the other side, your right brain functions in a non-verbal manner and excels in visual and intuitive skills. You see, the left and right brain process information quite differently. The right brain processes information very quickly in a nonlinear and non-sequential way. It does this by looking at the whole picture and quickly searches to determine the spatial relationships of each individual part as they relate to the whole.

So, you are probably asking yourself at this point, "Well, that is fascinating information but how do those facts correlate with the benefits of learning to how to draw?" Those who are balanced and "middle brain oriented" can have strong qualities from either hemisphere. Those students can benefit from logic from the left hemisphere and intuition from the right. That sounds like a great recipe for success in all areas of life, does it not?

Education in any area seems to make the brain stronger.

In addition to the above, there are additional benefits that are obtained by learning to draw that are key to the balance and stress reduction that learning how to draw will provide:

· Drawing and art can put you in another place, even if it is only for a few minutes. This enables you to conquer problems with a clearer head, thus possibly, avoiding a severe headache and even depression in addition to increasing your self-esteem.

· Drawing keeps you in the here and now, which enables us to have more of those "A HA!" moments. Experts have said this is very beneficial for us. When you are completely engaged in something to the point of being in almost a meditative state you will receive many of the pluses that meditation provides. Drawing enables you to clear your mind and focus on something without being distracted, leaving you much less stressed when you're done.

· Drawing allows you to take time for yourself and will leave you feeling much more balanced. We all need to take down time for ourselves once in a while even if it is only for a half of an hour. And, with drawing, you have the additional benefit of being left with your own masterpiece to show off!

Remember...Drawing allows you to take time for yourself and will leave you feeling much more balanced. We all need to take down time for ourselves once in a while even if it is only for a half of an hour. And, with drawing, you have the additional benefit of being left with your own masterpiece to show. So, go grab a pencil, some paper and tell your left-brain to go take a siesta for a while, in doing so your right brain will be oh so very grateful!

Learn How to Draw A Horse

One of the most popular subjects of peoples drawing is animals. Unfortunately, very few people can actually draw so most pictures drawn of animals such as horses, penguins and dragons look like absolute garbage. This is actually very ironic because many people could actually be half way decent at drawing if they just applied a few simple drawing techniques to their artwork. Its common belief that you have to have some special gift to be able to draw well, and while some people are naturally better at drawing then others this simply is not true. Drawing is like any other skill, it takes practice and proper technique.

One thing many people do not understand is that you must take your time when drawing a detailed animal drawing. What most people do is sit down and sketch out the entire body of the animal they are drawing within a 30 minute period. The secret most great detail oriented artist have is that they spend almost more time preparing to draw the drawing. It actually take a great amount of planning when you are drawing a true to life picture.

One of the most common mistakes made by people wanting to draw is there is no real strategy to how they draw the animal. This leads to a total mess when it comes to the end product. Drawing a animal such as a horse is like planning to build a house.

There are literally thousands of tips that I could reveal to you about drawing animals. However, if you are just getting started there are a few basic things you can do to really improve your drawing. First and foremost you must take your time and plan out the drawing. One thing most artist do is simply draw the outline of the drawing for a while, once they have the per portions right they then start work on the drawing. This also relates to my second tip, do not start working on the details until you have the full drawing outline. Many people will start working on something such as the hair, and they will not be able to make it uniform with the rest of the body because they have not provided enough room. This would be prevented by having an outline.

Great books for young people who want to learn to draw

Many young people like draw. But they stuck and frustrated when what they see in their head, or what they want to create on paper, does not correspond to what comes out of their hands. With a little practice and some simple instructions, a child (or adult, indeed) can improve their skills. Here are some great books for young people who want to learn how draw.

The fundamental difference between drawing instruction books are children to adults, children's books can get extremely Basic. But this is not a bad thing. Sometimes adult how-to -draw with books are too advanced, and adults can get frustrated.

But one great thing about how-to - booksto children is that the examples and exercises are much more fun than those of adults. Of course, you could find the typical circle with shading and shadow to look like a sphere. But the book drawing a kids' will then turn in a mobile space or part of the fun and interesting thing.

One of the best books, as it is draw Squad of Mark Kistler, recommended for ages 6 and older. It does not simplify things for children. He presented terms of art real and technical, as the effect of approximation and shading, but it does so in a simple and easy to understand manner.

The children will begin immediately by ing drawa circle account as the top of a cylinder in 3D. Then he turns in a simple birthday cake. The second ing drawincorporates a horizon line, to show the depth and begin to add perspective.

Throughout the book, there are small blank areas that kids can make their sessions to drawin, but I suggest using a sketchbook separately. It also includes many examples of work from other children, which is a great motivation factor and shows children that it is possible to draw really well.

If you want to go a little easier, how to draw animals 101 will work for youth, 5 years and more. There are sessions drawa single line for children with. Most animals children know are here, as the cow, zebra, crab, more a bunch of silly made up those that children enjoy, too.

Still more elementary is ing drawof Ed Emberley book: make a world, or else by the same author. It's your basic combining shapes to create simple, easily identifiable objects such as ships, cars and the dragons. It uses rectangles, points, lines and squiggles, and letters such as C, L, S and U, to make the objects. Children old enough to manipulate a tool drawof ing will be able to work with this book.

There, you have three basic drawing books that proved to be favorites. They are great books for children who want to learn how to draw. Pair them with a few pencils (pencils of color for youth) and a book of sketches, and you have a gift for most of the children will love.
